Fabregas threw pizza into the face of Alex Ferguson in 2004
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas became a member of A League of Their Own program on Sky 1.
TV presenter James Corden asked the player about the events of October 2004, when the Spaniard played for Arsenal. Someone from the London team tossed pizza into the face of the opponent’s coach Alex Ferguson after the match with Manchester United (0: 2).
Arsenal former defender Martin Keown said after the game: “As far as I understood, this was a guy from Spain, a great technical player. He showed excellent technique even in handling pizza. He threw it like a Frisbee.”
Cesk admitted after 13 years, that it was him who tossed the pizza into Ferguson. “Yes it was me! But Martin Keown is a liar, because I remember him punching someone in front of me, and so he could not see anything,”Cesc said.
- Fabregas became the first Premier League player to have made at least 10 assists in six seasons in May 2017.
The season-2014/15 remains record one for Fabregas, when he made 18 assists in the Premier League.
Biography and professional career
Francesc Fabregas was born on May 4, 1987 in the Catalan city of Arenys de Mar, located on the Mediterranean coast. The first Cesk’s club was Mataro from the same-name city. But he was noticed by Barcelona scouts already at the age of 10, and moved to the great Spanish academy. Fabregas took the defensive midfielder position here, where his idol Josep Guardiola had played before. The future stars Lionel Messi and Gerard Piquet also played together with him in the team. Fabregas sometimes scored more than 30 goals per season for the youth team. Although he still played in defense.
Chances for the first team in Barcelona
Despite his successes, Cesc’s prospects in Barcelona were illusive. No one knew when he would be given the chance to break into the first team. Therefore Arsène Wenger had no trouble persuading Fabregas to move to Arsenal on his behalf. He promised Cesc would quickly get an opportunity to play for the Gunners’ first team.
