Chelsea hold the first place in the English Premier League
After yesterday’s Liverpool misfiring, an away match with Middlesbrough was very important for Chelsea. Though with some problems, the Antonio Conte warriors sorted out the issue, earning three points at the Riverside. They continued their goalless seria that lasted from the crushing defeat against Arsenal. In general, Chelsea has 6 victories, with total score 17:0. Chelsea hasn’t achieved such a result from the time when Carlo Ancelotti was a head coach.
However, the meeting at the Riverside wasn’t so easy for guests.
From the first minutes, Middlesbrough began to demonstrate the lack of fear for rivals, who recently visited the national team meeting. The Ajara Karanki’s squad frequently played within the penalty area of Tibo Kurtua, though for the all game it resulted in a few episodes at the guests’ goals. It couldn’t be compared with some chances of Chelsea.
The hosts’ efforts ended rather quickly, and the game predominantly passed to the Chelsea’s advantage. After half an hour the Conte team created the first really decent moment near the away team. However, the Pedro’s shot after the slick pass of the Hazard was retained in memory the magnificent save of Victor Valdes. The goalkeeper again joined the game a little bit later, reflecting the shot of Marcos Alonso. Although, the Middlesbrough players couldn’t go for a break with a draw. After a corner kick, the ball hanged in the air above the hosts penalty area and touched the ground where the skillful striker Diego Costa collected it and scored.
The second part of the game was better for the guests. They created a few episodes near the goal area of the hosts. The Conte’s squad managed to create a good moment on the 63rd minute, when Pedro shot after a clever pass from Diego Costa. The end of the game was full of Middlesbrough’s attacks as a result Conte strengthened a defense line by getting Ivanovic out on the field. As a result, the hosts efforts were in vain.
